SAEDNEWS: Reformist politician Sadegh Zibakalam has questioned the Guardian Council’s consistency after appointing Ali Larijani as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, despite previously disqualifying him. He emphasized the need for pragmatic and moderate figures in Iran’s leadership to steer the country out of its current crisis.
According to Saed News’ political desk, reformist political activist Sadegh Zibakalam reacted on the social media platform X to the appointment of Ali Larijani as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, writing:
“One might ask the esteemed Guardian Council whether this Dr. Ali Larijani, who has now been appointed secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, is not the same person you previously disqualified? What is your criterion for determining eligibility?”
However, Zibakalam added that the more pressing issue at present is the inclusion of pragmatic and moderate figures in the decision-making hierarchy of the Islamic Republic, in order to rescue the country from its current predicament.
