SAEDNEWS: In a poignant moment following his inauguration, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian—accompanied by his daughter—visited the home of the late Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Ali Al-Hashem, paying respects to a revered cleric known for his humility and public accessibility.
According to Saed News, shortly after receiving official endorsement as president, Masoud Pezeshkian made his first private visit to the Tehran residence of the late Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Ali Al-Hashem. Joined by his daughter, the newly sworn-in president met with the family of the slain cleric, describing him as a model of integrity, public service, and quiet influence.
Pezeshkian praised Al-Hashem’s personal virtues, highlighting his renowned humility and open-door approach to the public. “Anyone facing hardship could easily reach him,” he said, recalling the cleric’s close bond with the people of Tabriz. “That is why, every time he ran for any position, the people showed up at the ballot box with sincere conviction.”
The visit marked a symbolic gesture by Pezeshkian, emphasizing continuity between religious and civilian leadership in the post-revolutionary tradition of Iranian politics. Al-Hashem, who was widely respected in Azerbaijan province and beyond, was assassinated in an incident that the Iranian state has linked to foreign interference and instability in the region.
Photos from the meeting circulated widely, showing a solemn Pezeshkian seated beside the family in a modest living room—a moment reflecting both personal mourning and the broader effort to project a presidency rooted in tradition, loyalty, and moral authority.
