In Humble Unity: The Quiet Dignity of General Bagheri’s Family Tomb

According to Saed News, the remains of Lieutenant General Mohammad Bagheri—head of Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff—and those of his wife and daughter were interred together on 23 Khordad 1404 (June 13, 2025) in Plot 24 of Tehran’s Behesht Zahra Cemetery. The joint tomb, marked by an unadorned marble slab, reflects the late commander’s lifelong ethos of humility even as he occupied the nation’s highest military office.

Eyewitnesses describe a subdued ceremony attended by close relatives, colleagues, and members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who laid simple wreaths beside the grave. Bagheri’s daughter, Fereshteh Afshordi—a cultural correspondent for the Sacred Defense News Agency—was laid to rest alongside her parents, Ashraf Afshordi and the general, following their untimely deaths in the early hours of the Israeli strike

Family friends recount that Bagheri, despite his strategic acumen and authority, lived modestly: “He insisted on sharing our sparse meals,” one longtime aide recalled. The matriarch, Mrs. Afshordi, noted for her own quiet resilience, “stood by him as steadfastly as the columns of this cemetery.”

Analysts observe that the collective burial poignantly underscores both personal loss and national resolve. It serves as a reminder that, for many Iranians, leadership is inseparable from sacrifice. As crowds dispersed under the cool breeze, the shared headstone remained—a silent yet powerful emblem of unity in the face of adversity.
