Iran's Foreign Ministry: Washington planned to wreck JCPOA from day one

According to Saed News, Esmail Baghaei, in his press briefing yesterday (Tuesday), commented on the remarks of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his announcement of readiness for direct dialogue with Iran. He stated: “These conditions indicate a lack of seriousness and goodwill for a diplomatic approach. With regard to the United States, we must always keep in mind the reality that, in the middle of a negotiation process, we were confronted with aggression from the Zionist regime and the US.”

Esmail Baghaei,

Baghaei added: “We cannot speak about the future without taking into account past experiences. The JCPOA existed, and the United States unilaterally withdrew from it without any justification or pretext. Most recently, in the middle of a negotiation process, the Zionist regime, in coordination with the US, carried out its attacks against Iran and Iran’s nuclear facilities.”

The Foreign Ministry spokesman continued: “The statement of the US Secretary of State, along with the welcoming of the activation of the snapback mechanism and describing it as an action in line with the presidential directive of the US President, shows that from the very beginning of the new administration’s entry into the White House, its plan was to dismantle the JCPOA and impose illegal pressures against Iran.”
