SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei criticized Europe’s attempt to activate the snapback mechanism, saying the US and European states that failed to uphold the JCPOA have no right to accuse Tehran of violations. He condemned what he called “one-sided diplomacy” and labeled Blinken’s statement as disgraceful.

Ismail Baghaei, in his press conference today (Tuesday), also spoke about the action of the three European countries in initiating the snapback mechanism process, stating:
“When the three European countries, along with the US Secretary of State, speak about the JCPOA, they should be asked: which JCPOA are you talking about?”

He added:
“They accuse Iran of not fulfilling its obligations under the JCPOA. The parties that failed in implementing the JCPOA are by no means authorized to accuse Iran of non-performance in the deal.”

The Foreign Ministry spokesman continued:
“Iran’s actions in reducing its commitments were legal and in accordance with the JCPOA.”

Baghaei further noted:
“Unfortunately, when they speak of diplomacy, what they mean is forcing Iran to accept their unilateral and excessive demands. The European Union and the three European countries, which once acted as intermediaries in the negotiations leading to the JCPOA, have now reduced their role to merely pushing Iran into negotiations with the United States.”

Baghaei concluded:
“The statement by the US Secretary of State was disgraceful.”
