The Foreign Minister, stating that the entry of IAEA inspectors into Iran was carried out with the decision of the Supreme National Security Council and for supervision of the Bushehr nuclear power plant fuel swap, said: No agreement text regarding the framework for new cooperation between Iran and the IAEA has been finally approved.
According to Saed News, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, referring to remarks by IAEA officials regarding the inspectors’ entry into Iran, said: The law passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly requires cooperation with the IAEA to be subject to the Supreme National Security Council's decision. Accordingly, all IAEA requests go to the Supreme National Security Council for decision-making.
The Foreign Minister stated that decisions have already been made regarding the Bushehr nuclear power plant fuel swap, which must be conducted under IAEA supervision, and any cooperation will be carried out within the framework of parliamentary law to safeguard the interests of the Iranian nation.
Regarding the statements by the Tehran representative in today’s open session of the Majlis about the finalization of the cooperation agreement text between Iran and the IAEA on the new modality, he emphasized: No text has yet received final approval; some viewpoints have been exchanged between the two sides, and IAEA positions have been submitted in writing multiple times. In any negotiation, it is natural for the parties to exchange views until a conclusion is reached. He added that he does not know the source of the text referred to by the parliamentary representative, but it should be noted that this text is not the subject of negotiation or agreement.
Araghchi also explained the topics of his meeting today with members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Majlis, noting: Today, discussions were held on the Armenia-Azerbaijan corridor and the agreements reached, nuclear negotiations with European countries, talks with the IAEA, and issues regarding the snapback mechanism and its extension, and the representatives provided useful viewpoints.
