SAEDNEWS: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Araghchi dismissed European attempts to invoke the JCPOA snapback mechanism, asserting that Europe has forfeited the right to enforce any part of the deal. Tehran vowed to counter these efforts until the last moment.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, appearing on the TV program Jaryan, stated: “Currently, the Europeans have until October 19 to attempt a snapback, but from our perspective, due to their positions—including insistence on zero enrichment, despite the JCPOA recognizing Iran’s enrichment rights—they have no legitimacy to speak for or enforce any part of the agreement, including the snapback mechanism.”
According to Saed News citing Tasnim News Agency, he added: “In a detailed and well-reasoned letter to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council, I argued that for multiple reasons, they are no longer considered members of the JCPOA. Of course, they may try to counter this or explore other avenues.”
He continued: “There is no doubt that action is needed to prevent the snapback, and we will leave no effort untried until the very last moment.”
