The Strange and Mysterious Story of Two Graves in the Runway of an Airport + Photo

According to the Crime News service, as reported by Saed, Google Maps shows two graves on the runway of Hilton Head Airport in Savannah, which has puzzled many people.

According to the Crime site, quoting Mehr news agency, beneath the asphalt of runway 10, at the edge of this runway, Catherine and Richard Datson, along with two of their relatives, are buried. But why were they buried in this area?

The answer is simple: More than 140 years have passed since the death of this couple, while Hilton Head Airport was built 65 years ago (in 1960).

In fact, the Datson family lived on the farm that is now the site of the airport. Mr. and Mrs. Datson spent five decades of happy life together and were buried in a family cemetery near their farm, which consisted of about 100 graves.

Years after World War II, because the U.S. military needed an airport for its flights in Savannah, and local officials wanted to improve recognition of the city, the decision was made to build an airport in the city. The best location for constructing the airport was where the Datson family's farm and a family cemetery were located.

Most of the deceased from the cemetery were moved to another graveyard, but the descendants of Mr. and Mrs. Datson opposed the relocation of this couple. They believed that moving their graves would disturb the peace of those who had worked for decades on their farm.
