According to the Political Desk of Saed News Agency, the interim president of Venezuela said that the Americans gave Rodríguez 15 minutes to cooperate; otherwise, “they would kill him.”

According to a report by RT and several other media outlets, an audio file has been released from a meeting between Venezuela’s interim president and influential figures of the ruling party, in which Rodríguez reveals what he calls the Americans’ “big lie” on the day of Maduro’s abduction.

According to the report, following the U.S. attack on Venezuela on January 3 and the abduction of Maduro and his wife, the White House gave three senior government officials 15 minutes to decide whether to agree to Trump’s demands; otherwise, they would be “eliminated.”

Delcy made this remark during an almost two-hour meeting with influential members of Venezuela’s ruling party. The audio file of that meeting, which was held seven days after the U.S. attack, was leaked today by a local journalism group.

In the meeting, Rodríguez says, “The only thing I want is unity.” Before he spoke, Venezuela’s Minister of Communication, Freddy Ñáñez, spoke in defense of Rodríguez. Calling for an end to “rumors, conspiracies, and attempts to discredit” him, he defended the interim president, saying that Rodríguez is “the only guarantee we have that we can bring back the president and the first lady (from the United States to Venezuela).”

Rodríguez, speaking about the night of the U.S. military attack to abduct Maduro, said that “the threats began from the very first minute of the president’s abduction. They gave Diosdado (the interior minister), Jorge Rodríguez (the speaker of Venezuela’s parliament), and me 15 minutes to respond; otherwise, they would kill us.”

According to his account, the Americans told them that Maduro had been killed and not detained. Rodríguez added that he and other Venezuelan leaders responded by saying they were “ready to face the same fate.” He continued: “I tell you that to this day we have maintained this position, because the threats and blackmail are constant, and we must move forward with patience, strategic caution, and very clear objectives.”
