Mocha coffee is a visually appealing, multi-layered drink that is highly recommended for autumn and winter. It is an excellent choice for those who do not enjoy the bitterness of plain coffee.
According to the Saed News Culinary Section, mocha coffee is a warm espresso-based drink made by combining chocolate sauce, coffee, milk, and milk foam. It is especially popular among coffee and chocolate lovers who prefer a milder coffee flavor.
In some countries, this drink is also known as mochaccino. In this section of Saed News, we will teach you how to prepare layered café mocha just like a coffee shop.
Coffee: 30 ml
Chocolate powder: 15 g
Cocoa powder: 15 g
Milk: 100 ml
Water: As needed
Mix cocoa powder and chocolate powder together. Add some boiling water and stir until it forms a caramel-like syrup.
If you have a coffee maker, fill the lower chamber with two cups of water, add ground coffee to the upper part, and place it on low heat. Once it starts boiling, remove it immediately from the heat.
If you don’t have a coffee maker, mix ground coffee with cold water, pour it into a small pot, and place it over low heat. Remove it as soon as it starts boiling.
Heat some milk until it is close to boiling but not fully boiled.
Reserve some milk for making foam. For frothing, pour warm milk (around 60°C) into a French press (fill it halfway) and pump the plunger up and down until a thick foam forms.
You can also use a manual whisk to froth the milk by rapidly stirring back and forth.
Take a glass and pour the chocolate sauce into the bottom.
Gently add the freshly brewed coffee.
Slowly pour in the steamed milk.
Finally, top it with milk foam.
For decoration, you can use whipped cream, a little vanilla, and cinnamon.
☕ Alternative to Chocolate Powder: You can use ready-made chocolate syrup instead.
🍫 For a Stronger Chocolate Flavor: Replace chocolate powder with melted dark chocolate using the double boiler method (placing chocolate pieces over steaming water until melted).
💡 Choosing the Right Coffee: Espresso is recommended, but if you prefer a less intense flavor, use drip coffee instead.
🥤 Quick Mocha Recipe (Without Layers):
Heat cold water and coffee over low heat until it starts to boil.
Warm the milk, add chocolate pieces, and stir until melted.
Mix in sugar, coffee, and cream, stirring constantly over low heat until thickened.
Pour into your favorite glass, decorate, and enjoy!
❄️ Serving Mocha Cold:
To serve iced mocha, refrigerate it for a few minutes after preparation.
🍨 Whipped Cream Alternative: Instead of cream, you can use ice cream for a creamier texture.
