SAEDNEWS: Tutankhamun was one of the most famous pharaohs of ancient Egypt. He ruled the kingdom for 10 years until his untimely death at the age of 19 in 1324 B.C.
According to the History and Culture section of Saed News, although the reign of Tutankhamun was notable for reversing the religious reforms of his father Akhenaten, Tutankhamun’s legacy was largely dismissed by his successors. Until 1922, Tutankhamun remained unknown to the modern world—until British archaeologist Howard Carter entered the untouched tomb of the young king, revealing astonishing insights into life in ancient Egypt and catapulting Tutankhamun to become the most famous pharaoh in the world.
Genetic testing has confirmed that Tutankhamun was the grandson of the great Pharaoh Amenhotep III and the son of Akhenaten. After Akhenaten’s death, the nine-year-old prince, then known as Tutankhaten, ascended the throne.
