SAEDNEWS: Iranian caretaker minister Ali Bagheri Kani has held talks with visiting Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Tehran to discuss regional developments.
According to SAEDNEWS, The Jordanian foreign minister, who arrived in Tehran earlier on Sunday for discussions with Iranian officials, met with Iran's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, in the afternoon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs compound.
"I informed my Iranian counterpart that I was not bringing a message from Israel to Tehran," Safadi remarked following the meeting.
Emphasizing that the first step to de-escalating tensions in the region is to halt Israel's military actions against Gaza, Safadi explained, "The purpose of my trip to Tehran is to address the differences between our two countries in a clear and transparent manner, in line with our mutual interests."
Earlier that day, reports from Jordan's Foreign Ministry indicated that Safadi “will deliver a message from His Majesty King Abdullah II to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian regarding the situation in the region and bilateral relations."
The rise in regional tensions followed the assassination of Palestinian Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh by the Israeli regime on Wednesday, who had been in Tehran for the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian. In response, Iranian authorities declared their intention to provide a strong and decisive reply to the aggressive actions of the Israeli regime.
