SAEDNEWS: Iran's national junior Greco-Roman wrestling team has once again become the world champion after grabbing five medals in the 2024 U17 World Championships in Amman, Jordan.

According to SAEDNEWS, From August 29 to 31, Amman played host to the highly anticipated World Junior Wrestling Championships, showcasing talent from teams across the globe. The competition was fierce, but ultimately, it was the Iranian team that emerged victorious, successfully defending their championship title.

The Iranian wrestlers delivered an outstanding performance, bringing home a total of three gold medals and three bronze medals. Armin Shamsipour (48 kg), Amir Mahdi Saeidi Nava (65 kg), and Danial Izadi (92 kg) each claimed gold in their respective weight categories, demonstrating their exceptional skills on the mat.

In addition to their gold medalists, Iran also celebrated bronze medal victories for Abolfazl Karami (51 kg), Emadreza Mohsen-Nejad (80 kg), and Ali Asghar Dadbakhsh (110 kg), adding to the team's impressive medal tally.

With a total of 140 points, Iran topped the leaderboard, while Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan followed closely, finishing in second and third place with 113 and 105 points, respectively. This remarkable achievement reinforces Iran's stronghold in the world of junior wrestling and highlights the nation's commitment to nurturing young talent in the sport.

The championships not only showcased the competitive spirit of young athletes but also served as a reminder of the rich tradition of wrestling in the region. As teams from various countries competed, spectators were treated to a thrilling display of athleticism and sportsmanship.
