Tips for Making Coffee Fromage

  • If you don’t have a gelatin mold and are using a metal one instead, grease the mold, dust it with sugar, and place it in the freezer for 20 minutes before preparing the dessert.

  • If you don’t have coffee at home, instant coffee (Nescafé powder) works as a substitute. However, for the best flavor, we recommend using real coffee to fully enjoy the authentic taste of fromage.

  • If you love nuts, especially hazelnuts, you can add ¾ cup of finely chopped or ground hazelnuts to the mixture while preparing the dessert.


Ingredients for Coffee Fromage

  • 2 tablespoons coffee or instant coffee

  • 2 tablespoons gelatin powder

  • 3 eggs

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

  • ¾ cup sugar

  • ¾ cup ground hazelnuts

  • 1 packet hot chocolate powder

  • 1½ cups heavy cream (whipping cream)


How to Make Delicious Coffee Fromage

  1. Grease your mold, dust it with sugar, and place it in the freezer for 20 minutes.

  2. Dissolve the gelatin powder in ½ cup of cold water (for extra clarity, you can use a bain-marie method).

  3. In a separate bowl, crack the eggs and transfer them to a larger mixing bowl. Add vanilla and beat well – this will help increase the volume of the eggs.

  4. Add sugar and continue to beat for 1 minute. Then stir in the hot chocolate powder.

  5. In another small bowl, pour 4 tablespoons of boiling water and dissolve the coffee or instant coffee in it. Add this mixture to the main egg mixture.

  6. At this stage, add the hazelnuts if desired.

  7. Whip the cream lightly to make it fluffy. Add the cooled gelatin to the cream and beat for 2 more minutes.

  8. Finally, combine the gelatin-cream mixture with the egg-coffee-hot chocolate mixture, pour into your prepared mold, and refrigerate. After 5 hours, your Coffee Fromage is ready to serve.
