SAEDNEWS: See Farah’s jewel-encrusted, extravagant coronation gown.
According to Saed News’ society section, the coronation ceremony was held in the most lavish and ceremonial fashion imaginable, with a substantial portion of public funds spent on the queen’s gown, the coronation robe, and, of course, the crown jewels. To showcase opulence and grandeur, the garments were entrusted to the finest tailors in the world, while the royal ornaments were crafted by the most renowned jewelers, effectively turning the treasury into a stage for extravagant generosity.
One of the most striking elements of Farah Pahlavi’s attire was her coronation robe, which was placed on her shoulders just moments before the official ceremony began. Made from exquisite green velvet, the robe was adorned with diamonds, rubies, and emeralds, while intricate gold embroidery ran along its edges. Interestingly, the robe’s train extended even beyond the hem of Farah’s gown, creating a dramatic, flowing effect.
The coronation robe was tailored by Marc Bohan, the celebrated designer for Christian Dior, though modifications were made once it arrived in Iran.
Today, Farah Pahlavi’s coronation robe is preserved at the National Jewelry Museum, where visitors can admire it daily from 2:00 to 4:30 PM.
