SAEDNEWS: Shahr-e Sukhteh: The Enigmatic City with Hidden Treasures Buried in the Earth
According to the Social Affairs Desk of Saed News, for the first time in the Burnt City, a prosthetic eye dating back 4,800 years has been discovered. The artificial eye belonged to a woman aged between 25 and 30, who was buried in one of the city’s graves, with the eye positioned on her skull.
The prosthetic was fitted into the woman’s left eye socket and, remarkably, has remained intact despite the passage of millennia.
While the exact material of the artificial eye has not been fully determined, it appears to have been crafted from natural bitumen combined with a type of animal fat.
