SAEDNEWS: A German ice cream seller has added a strange new item to his ice cream menu: a unique flavor made with dried crickets.
According to Saed News, citing Khabaronline and the German news agency DPA based in Rottenburg am Neckar, an ice cream maker named “Mikolino” has moved away from traditional flavors such as strawberry, chocolate, banana, and vanilla and has started creating unusual varieties.
In the past, he produced ice creams flavored with liver sauce and Gorgonzola cheese covered with a layer of gold, selling them for 4 euros. Gorgonzola is a type of Italian cheese enriched with an edible mold called Penicillium roqueforti.

Now, Mikolino has created an ice cream flavored with dried crickets. According to European Union regulations, insects are permitted for use in food production, and crickets can be used in frozen, dried, or powdered forms.
This new ice cream is made using cricket powder, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and honey. Each serving is also decorated with a whole dried cricket placed on top.

Mikolino himself believes that the taste of this cricket-flavored ice cream is truly excellent and unique.
He says, “Although some people feel disgusted or even upset when they hear about cricket-flavored ice cream, curious and open-minded people decide to try this new flavor with a smile. Some of them even order this type of ice cream every day.”
