SAEDNEWS: The U.S. military stated that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the armed groups it supports must stop these attacks to prevent further military action by the United States.
According to Saednews, The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced late Tuesday that U.S. and Saudi Arabian forces carried out coordinated airstrikes in Iraq targeting Iran-backed militia groups.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, CENTCOM said the precision strikes took place on July 28 against militia forces that it claims were directed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to attack U.S. personnel and Saudi energy infrastructure.
According to the statement, American and Saudi fighter aircraft targeted multiple logistics and weapons sites in eastern Iraq. CENTCOM said the operation was conducted in response to more than 30 drone attacks launched by the IRGC over the previous 72 hours.
CENTCOM further stated that recent attacks against U.S. forces were unsuccessful. It also claimed that between February and April 2026, Iran-aligned militias in Iraq carried out more than 600 unsuccessful attacks against American citizens and facilities.
The U.S. military warned that the IRGC and its affiliated groups should halt such attacks to avoid further American military action.
