Authentic Ahvazi Pizza Samosa Recipe with Sausage and Mozzarella Cheese

According to Saednews, Many of the dishes we enjoy today are the result of creative combinations of ingredients and cooking techniques. Even traditional recipes have evolved over time, and samosas are no exception. One delicious modern variation is the Pizza Samosa, which combines classic samosa preparation with popular pizza ingredients such as sausage, cheese, mushrooms, and bell peppers. The result is a crispy, cheesy snack that's perfect as an appetizer, party food, or quick meal.

Ingredients (Serves 6)

  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled and diced

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 200 g sausage, diced

  • 1 bell pepper, diced

  • 100 g mushrooms, sliced

  • 100 g mozzarella or pizza cheese, shredded

  • 50 g sweet corn

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • Salt, black pepper, turmeric, paprika, and dried oregano (to taste)

  • Lavash bread or yufka/phyllo pastry

  • Cooking oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes until tender, then dice them into small cubes.

  2. Heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until softened.

  3. Add the diced sausage and cook until lightly browned.

  4. Stir in the bell pepper and mushrooms, cooking until the vegetables soften.

  5. Mix in the tomato paste along with the salt, black pepper, turmeric, paprika, and oregano. Cook for another 2–3 minutes.

  6. Remove the filling from the heat and allow it to cool slightly.

  7. Add the diced potatoes, sweet corn, and shredded mozzarella cheese, mixing well.

  8. Place a portion of the filling onto the lavash or yufka pastry and fold it into your preferred shape, such as a triangle, roll, cone, or half-moon.

  9. Seal the edges with a paste made from flour and water.

  10. Fry the samosas in hot oil until they become golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels before serving.

Baking or Air Frying

  • Oven: Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes, or until golden and crisp.

  • Air Fryer: Cook at 180°C (350°F) for 10–15 minutes, turning halfway through for even browning.

Tips

  • Allow the filling to cool before adding the cheese to prevent it from melting too early.

  • Seal the pastry edges well using a flour-and-water paste to keep the filling from leaking.

  • Serve hot with ketchup, garlic sauce, spicy mayonnaise, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Enjoy your homemade Pizza Samosas—crispy on the outside, cheesy and flavorful on the inside!
