This is not a joke or an April Fool’s prank. Nissan has actually implemented the “ProPILOT Park” project in a large Japanese inn located in the busy Hakone area. As part of this experiment, the slippers in the facility are equipped with self-parking technology so they can automatically return to their pairs.
Each slipper is equipped with small wheels, a motor, and sensors that allow it to move across the floor and find its correct position. The system is designed so that slippers automatically return to their matching pair and are neatly arranged for use.
In addition to the slippers, other items in the inn have also been equipped with similar mobility systems, such as floor cushions and even room tables.
