SAEDNEWS: Meteor lights up the sky as it passes near erupting Mayon Volcano in the Philippines.
According to the Society section of Saed News Service, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) announced that a meteor passed near Mount Mayon in Albay Province, Philippines, on Monday night, coinciding with the volcano’s eruption and lighting up the sky over the region.
Footage released by the institute shows a luminous object moving across the sky near Mount Mayon, one of the most active volcanoes in the Philippines. According to the report, the event was recorded at 10:33 p.m. local time by a camera installed at Lignon Hill.
The institute initially stated that the meteor had impacted the northern slope of the volcano, but later revised its assessment. Based on seismic data, infrasound waves, and additional camera footage, it clarified that the object disintegrated upon entering the atmosphere and did not strike the volcano.
