According to reports, the ancient Palace of Aigai in northern Greece has officially reopened following the completion of a 16-year restoration project. Greek authorities announced that the extensive renovation of the 2,300-year-old monument, which cost approximately €20 million, has been successfully completed. The palace is scheduled to welcome visitors starting Sunday.
The Palace of Aigai, where Alexander the Great was crowned king, is the largest known building of ancient Greece. The magnificent complex featured spacious colonnaded courtyards, royal halls, shrines, and grand banquet rooms. Its floors were lavishly decorated with patterned marble and intricate mosaics, reflecting the architectural brilliance and artistic sophistication of the ancient Macedonian kingdom.
