SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Iran is preparing to host a regional meeting with the participation of the Persian Gulf littoral states.
According to Saednews, Iran has reiterated its efforts to promote trust and cooperation among regional countries, emphasizing the importance of strengthening peace and stability without the intervention of extra-regional powers.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei described the planned meeting of foreign ministers from the Persian Gulf littoral states and the Sea of Oman as an important step toward greater regional cooperation. He expressed hope that the gathering would enhance mutual understanding and help strengthen collective regional security.
The meeting, which will be attended by Iran, Iraq and other Persian Gulf states, is scheduled to take place in Oman on Monday. According to Baghaei, discussions will include the results of Iran-Oman negotiations on establishing temporary safe shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
Baghaei stressed that Iran remains committed to ensuring the safety of navigation in the strategic waterway. However, he warned that continued US actions, including maritime blockades and economic pressure, make it impossible to guarantee shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz.
He concluded that ensuring maritime security depends on an end to what Tehran describes as aggressive and unlawful US interference.
