Iran Rejects New UK Sanctions as Illegal and Harmful to Bilateral Interests

According to Saednews, The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran said on Tuesday that the United Kingdom’s latest sanctions against Tehran run contrary to the shared interests of both countries.

In a statement, the embassy warned that following Washington’s policy of what it described as economic terrorism against Iran would serve no purpose other than deepening mistrust between Iran and the UK and weakening the foundations of bilateral cooperation.

The embassy stressed that Iran has consistently respected international law and noted that the country’s nuclear program remains under the full supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

It also urged the British government to condemn what it called acts of aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran instead of pursuing policies that could prove misguided and counterproductive.

According to the statement, the aggression against Iran represents a clear violation of international law and the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic.

The Iranian embassy issued its response after the British government announced an expansion of unilateral sanctions against Tehran, while repeating political allegations concerning Iran’s nuclear activities and its role in the region.
