According to Saednews. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Thursday that two oil tankers attempted to use what it described as an "unsafe southern route" through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday night after receiving guidance from US aircraft.
According to the IRGC, one of the tankers caught fire during the incident, leading both vessels to reverse course and leave the area.
In its statement, the IRGC emphasized that it considers the Strait of Hormuz to be under its control, saying its naval forces are responsible for securing the strategic waterway and would not allow foreign powers to interfere.
The organization also declared that those it described as aggressors would face consequences, adding that any countries assisting such actions could also be subject to retaliation if they continued their current policies.
The IRGC further stated that the Strait of Hormuz would not be reopened under the present circumstances, arguing that continued US rhetoric, threats, and involvement in regional maritime activities were contributing to increased tensions and making the situation more complex.
The statement followed reports that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) had carried out a new round of military strikes targeting several locations in Iran overnight. Iranian sources claimed that one attack on Qeshm Island killed a two-year-old child and the child's parents after their home was reportedly struck.
The situation remains highly sensitive, and independent verification of the claims made by both sides has not been confirmed.
