SAEDNEWS: Two oil tankers reportedly exploded late Sunday near the Strait of Hormuz. The report alleges the vessels were targeted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps after using an unsafe route under U.S. encouragement. These claims remain unverified.
According to Saednews, The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that two tankers were allegedly forced by the U.S. military to travel through a route it described as unsafe and prone to accidents.
In an official statement, the IRGC asserted that the area falls under its jurisdiction and claimed that the presence of U.S. forces in the region lacks legal justification. It added that any foreign interference would receive a firm response.
The IRGC further warned that continued U.S. military activities in the region would keep the waterway unsafe for the transportation of chemical fertilizers, oil, and natural gas.
The statement also called on U.S. forces to be prepared for what it described as a retaliatory operation following the incident.
According to the IRGC, the Strait of Hormuz has remained closed to commercial shipping since earlier this month and will stay closed until U.S. military involvement in the region comes to an end.
