Throughout life, we continually seek ways to ward off misfortunes and remain safe from negative events so that we may bring peace and security to ourselves and our loved ones. Undoubtedly, the first and most reliable step in seeking protection from such hardships is to turn to God in prayer and supplication, for it is only through trust in Him and His grace that one can be safeguarded from harm.

Among the various prayers for safeguarding loved ones, the recommendation of the Noble Messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), holds special significance. He said:
Whoever recites this supplication every morning and evening, Allah will appoint four angels to guard him from the front, behind, right, and left. He will remain under Allah’s protection, and even if all creatures among jinn and humankind sought to harm him, they would not succeed.
The supplication is:
«بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحیمِ
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَیْرِ الاْسْماءِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الاْرْضِ وَ السَّمآءِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذی لایَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ سَمُّ وَلا دآءٌ
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ اَصْبَحْتُ وَ عَلَی اللَّهِ تَوَکَّلْتُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ عَلی قَلْبی وَ نَفْسی بِسْمِ اللَّهِ عَلی دینی وَ عَقْلی
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ عَلی اَهْلی وَ مالی بِسْمِ اللَّهِ عَلی ما اَعْطانی رَبّی بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذی لایَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَیْءٌ فِی الاْرْضِ وَ لا فِی السَّماءِ وَ هُوَ السَّمیعُ الْعَلیمُ
اَللَّهُ اَللَّهُ رَبّی لا اُشْرِکُ بِهِ شَیْئاً اَللَّهُ اَکْبَرُ اَللَّهُ اَکْبَرُ وَ اَعَزُّ وَ اَجَلُّ مِمّا اَخافُ وَ اَحْذَرُ عَزَّ جارُکَ وَ جَلَّ ثَناؤُکَ وَلا اِلهَ غَیْرُکَ
اَللّهُمَّ اِنّی اَعُوذُ بِکَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسی وَ منْ شَرِّ کُلِّ سُلْطانٍ شَدیدٍ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ کُلِّ شَیْطانٍ مَریدٍ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ کُلِّ جَبّارٍ عَنیدٍ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ قَضآءِ السّوُءِ
وَ مِنْ کُلِّ دابَّهٍ اَنْتَ آخِذٌ بِناصِیَتِها اِنَّکَ عَلی صِراطٍ مُسْتَقیمٍ وَ اَنْتَ عَلی کُلِّشَیْءٍ حَفیظٌ اِنَّ وَلِیِّیَ اللَّهُ الَّذی نَزَّلَ الْکِتابَ وَ هُوَ یَتَوَلَّی الصّالِحینَ
فَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِیَ اللَّهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاّ هُوَ عَلَیْهِ تَوَکَّلْتُ وَ هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظیمِ»
One of our greatest concerns while traveling is remaining safe from harm and disasters. Imam Ali (AS), narrating from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), stated:
Whoever travels with faith and carries a staff made from bitter almond wood, then sincerely recites verse 22 of Surah Al-Qasas together with verses 26–28, will be protected during that journey from wild beasts, poisonous creatures, and thieves. Seventy angels will guard him until he returns home, and Satan will remain distant from him.
«وَلَمَّا تَوَجَّهَ تِلْقَاء مَدْیَنَ قَالَ عَسَی رَبِّی أَن یَهْدِیَنِی سَوَاء السَّبِیلِ»
(Surah Al-Qasas, 28:22)
«قَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا یَا أَبَتِ اسْتَأْجِرْهُ إِنَّ خَیْرَ مَنِ اسْتَأْجَرْتَ الْقَوِیُّ الْأَمِینُ. قَالَ إِنِّی أُرِیدُ أَنْ أُنکِحَکَ إِحْدَی ابْنَتَیَّ هَاتَیْنِ عَلَی أَن تَأْجُرَنِی ثَمَانِیَ حِجَجٍ فَإِنْ أَتْمَمْتَ عَشْرًا فَمِنْ عِندِکَ وَمَا أُرِیدُ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَیْکَ سَتَجِدُنِی إِن شَاء اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِینَ. قَالَ ذَلِکَ بَیْنِی وَبَیْنَکَ أَیَّمَا الْأَجَلَیْنِ قَضَیْتُ فَلَا عُدْوَانَ عَلَیَّ وَاللَّهُ عَلَی مَا نَقُولُ وَکِیلٌ»
(Surah Al-Qasas, 28:26–28)
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
Whoever sincerely recites the first three verses of Surah Al-An‘am every morning, Allah appoints seventy thousand angels to protect him from afflictions and records for him rewards equivalent to the deeds of seventy thousand angels.
«الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِی خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَجَعَلَ الظُّلُمَاتِ وَالنُّورَ ثُمَّ الَّذِینَ کَفَرُواْ بِرَبِّهِم یَعْدِلُونَ.
هُوَ الَّذِی خَلَقَکُم مِّن طِینٍ ثُمَّ قَضَی أَجَلًا وَأَجَلٌ مُّسمًّی عِندَهُ ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ تَمْتَرُونَ.
وَهُوَ اللّهُ فِی السَّمَاوَاتِ وَفِی الأَرْضِ یَعْلَمُ سِرَّکُمْ وَجَهرَکُمْ وَیَعْلَمُ مَا تَکْسِبُونَ»
(Surah Al-An‘am, 6:1–3)
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
Whoever recites the following seven times every morning will be protected from calamities throughout that day.
«فَاللَّهُ خَیْرٌ حافِظاً وَ هُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِینَ. إِنَّ وَلِیِّیَ اللَّهُ الَّذِی نَزَّلَ الْکِتابَ وَ هُوَ یَتَوَلَّی الصَّالِحِینَ. فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِیَ اللَّهُ لا إِلهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَیْهِ تَوَکَّلْتُ وَ هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِیمِ»
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
Whoever recites this supplication once in the morning will not encounter any unpleasant event that day, and whoever recites it at night will remain safe from harm throughout the night.
«اَللّهُمَّ اَنْتَ رَبّی لا اِلهَ اِلاّ اَنْتَ عَلَیْکَ تَوَکَّلْتُ وَ اَنْتَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظیمِ وَ لا حَوْلَ وَ لا قُوَّهَ اِلاّ بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِیِّ الْعَظیمِ ما شاءَ اللَّهُ کانَ وَ ما لَمْ یَشَاءْ لَمْ یَکُنْ اَعْلَمُ اَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلی کُلِّ شَیْئٍ قَدیرٌ وَ اَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ اَحاطَ بِکُلِّ شَیْئٍ عِلْماً. اَللّهُمَّ اِنّی اَعُوذُ بِکَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسی وَ مِنْ شَرِّ قَضاءِ السُّوءِ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ کُلِّ ذی شَرٍّ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ الْجِنِّ وَ الاِْنْسِ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ کُلِّ دابَّهٍ اَنْتَ آخِذٌ بِناصِیَتَها اِنَّ رَبّی عَلی صراط مستقیم.»
Imam Ali (AS) said:
Whoever recites Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Qadr, and Ayat al-Kursi eleven times before sunrise, Allah will protect his wealth from all harm and danger.
Imam Ali (AS) said:
Whoever performs four rak‘ahs of prayer at noon and recites Surah Al-Fatihah and Ayat al-Kursi in every rak‘ah, Allah will grant safety to him, his family, his wealth, his faith, and his worldly affairs.
Imam Ali (AS) taught the following remembrance:
10 times: Subhan Allah
10 times: Alhamdulillah
10 times: Allahu Akbar
10 times: La ilaha illa Allah
After every prayer.
He stated that Allah removes one thousand worldly afflictions from the person who regularly recites these praises after each prayer.
