Marriage Of More Than 70 Women With Trees In Their City

According to SAEDNEWS, citing Khabar Foori, although stories about marrying trees have been heard before among unusual marriages, this recent news about a large number of women in a British city marrying trees is actually a symbolic act with a different reason.

Many women in one of the cities in the United Kingdom symbolically decided to marry the trees in their city in order to save them from destruction. According to newsweek.com, city planning authorities had decided to build 166 housing units instead of the trees in the city of “Bristol,” and in order to implement this plan, all the trees had to be cut down, which would have been a disaster for the city’s environment.

Concern among residents and some officials led to an alternative solution, and eventually, “marrying the trees” was proposed as the best option. This symbolic marriage represented the idea that trees are lifelong companions of humans and it proved effective.

To carry out this campaign, a symbolic ceremony was held, and the participating women, wearing different outfits, demanded the suspension of the housing project that would have led to the cutting of 74 beautiful trees in the city.

The organizer of the group said: “Trees are a symbol of unconditional love; they remain with us during life and even after death. Our city needs more green trees rather than luxury houses, so we cannot allow this decision to be implemented.”

Their effort was successful, and it was reported that after this symbolic action, the plan to build 166 housing units instead of trees was rejected by the city council.
