Saed News: An indictment has been issued in the case of a teenage girl who killed her friend’s father during a fight.
According to SAEDNEWS, on June 2, 2024, the suspicious death of a middle-aged man on a hospital bed in southern Tehran was reported to Police Emergency Center 110.
Following the report, a team of detectives from the Tenth Department of the Tehran Metropolitan Police Investigation Unit, along with a criminal prosecutor, went to the scene.
At the scene, investigators found the body of a man who had stab wounds on the thigh of one of his legs. Initial investigations showed that the man had been attacked during a street fight involving several girls and two teenage boys and had lost his life.
During the investigation, the victim’s daughter, who had witnessed the incident, was questioned and said: “For some time, we had personal disputes with several of my friends, and the situation kept getting worse until they arranged a fight. On the day of the incident, several girls accompanied by two teenage boys came in front of our house and started making noise. When my father noticed the commotion, he came outside to see what was happening, but suddenly a fight broke out. One of the girls, named Reyhaneh, stabbed my father in the leg with a knife. Then they all fled.”
The investigation team then carried out intelligence operations and specialized surveillance, identified the suspects and their hideouts, and arrested several individuals connected to the case.
The victim’s body was transferred to the forensic medicine organization to determine the exact cause of death. Considering the young age of the suspects, the criminal prosecutor issued a lack of jurisdiction order and referred the case to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
As a result, the handling of the case was assigned to Mahri Darvishi, investigator at the Special Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
Seventeen-year-old Reyhaneh, who had initially confessed to the murder during preliminary investigations at the police department, later changed her statements during the interrogation session and denied stabbing the victim. She explained: “One of my friends at school had a problem with the victim’s daughter, which led them to arrange a fight. I also went there with my sister, and during the altercation, the victim suddenly became involved in the fight to defend his daughter.”
She continued: “During the fight with the victim, I fell to the ground and was severely beaten. Somehow, I managed to get up and run away. I did not stab the victim, and there were other people present there.”
However, despite her later denial, the suspect’s initial confessions regarding the crime, investigations showing that Reyhaneh had a knife with her, and witnesses stating that she stabbed the victim all indicate her involvement. Surveillance cameras around the murder scene also confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, forensic experts informed the juvenile prosecutor, after conducting detailed examinations and tests, that based on Reyhaneh’s mental and psychological condition at the time of the crime, she lacked mental maturity.
After the completion of supplementary investigations and reconstruction of the crime scene, investigator Mahri Darvishi issued an order to proceed to trial, and the indictment against the defendant was issued by the Special Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office so that Reyhaneh can stand trial in Branch One of the Tehran Provincial Criminal Court.
