The Amazon of Iran
Deep in the heart of the Nowshahr region lies Tang-e Dar Forest—an untouched haven often called "Iran’s Amazon." A wild river runs through the forest, offering refreshing relief during the warm seasons. The adventure begins even before you reach it, as the journey includes river trekking and forest hiking.
How to Get There:
From Chalus Road, head toward Nowshahr via Keshksara Road (8 km before Nowshahr). Take a dirt road at Koshksara, turn right at the fork, and park near the Karkoo River Bridge. From there, hike into the forest.
From Amol or Haraz Road, take the coastal road (Route 22) to Nowshahr and continue along the same directions.
Prepare for a river hike of approximately 1.5 km (3–4 km round trip) through pristine wilderness.
A Forest from the Past
Located in the ancient village of Lajim, this forest is a living museum of towering, centuries-old trees. Ponds scattered among the trees reflect the surrounding beauty, and in winter, the aligned pine trees covered in snow create magical vistas—ideal for photography.
Accessibility:
The forest roads are not challenging, making it suitable even for seniors and children. However, we recommend ending your visit before dark due to the presence of wildlife such as jackals and bears.

The “Paradise Corridor”
Just 30 km southeast of Ramsar lies the breathtaking Dalkhani Forest, known as the "Corridor of Paradise." With 600,000 square meters of scenic landscapes, enjoy dreamy drives through foggy tunnels of tall trees or relax on hills overlooking breathtaking views.
Access Route:
Via Mirza Kuchak Khan Road or the Ketalem-Haris Road. The route leads to the summer highlands of Jannat Rudbar and Garsmasar.
A Hidden Gem in the Clouds
Arfah-Deh is one of Iran’s most pristine forests. Wild trees like hawthorn and wild pear give off a fresh, earthy scent. Often blanketed in mist, the forest is a haven for nature lovers.
The nearby Arfah-Deh Village, home to just 100 families, sits at 2,750 meters above sea level—perfect for rural tourism.

Access via Firuzkuh Road → Versak Village → Chaparkhaneh (or Dam Zenoon) → Sarakhabad (Red Crescent Road)
Nature's Tranquil Retreat
Often referred to as Neyrang Forest, the Khanikan Forest Park is a top destination in Nowshahr. After reaching Neyrang village in Khizrudkenar District, continue 15 km to the forest.
Though the road might seem long, the scenic route makes it more than worthwhile.
A Majestic Alpine Lake
Valasht Lake, nestled in the Takht-e Soleyman mountain range, is one of Mazandaran’s most serene spots. It sits southwest of Chalus and northeast of Kelardasht, near the city of Marzanabad.

A Hidden Mirror in the Forest
Located near Choort Village, Lake Choort is a small but magical lake surrounded by dense forests. Often shrouded in morning mist and filled with birdsong, it offers serenity and scenic beauty—especially during the vibrant autumn season.

Lake Choort formed nearly 80 years ago, after an earthquake and subsequent landslide blocked a local spring. When the water level drops, the remnants of ancient trees emerge, creating a hauntingly beautiful landscape.

Hidden in the heart of the Savadkooh forests, the magnificent Lafur Dam (Alborz Dam) sits quietly in a corner of the scenic Lafur Rural District. With its crystal-clear waters and lush surroundings, it has become a favorite escape for nature lovers and eco-tourists alike.
Encircled by ancient Hyrcanian forests, the contrast between deep green trees and the vibrant blue lake creates a breathtaking canvas—especially in early spring and autumn. It’s like stepping into a living painting.

This mountaintop village offers panoramic views of rolling hills, rivers, and valleys beneath a sea of clouds. The beauty is so surreal, you’ll feel like you’re floating.
