However, similar islands also exist in the real world—mysterious islands, some due to human-made structures, and others naturally mysterious. Below, we introduce some of these islands.

Poveglia Island, Italy
Poveglia Island – Italy, an island with a history full of horror. In the Middle Ages, it was an isolated place where victims of the Black Plague were burned. Later, it became a gunpowder depot for Napoleon, and then an island for psychiatric patients. Strange experiments and legends of nightly screams of the dead from the bell tower have all contributed to making this island one of the most terrifying in Italy.

Island of the Dolls – Mexico, on this island, you’ll encounter creepy dolls with wide-open eyes, recreating scenes from horror films. The only inhabitant of this island, Julian Santana, decorated it with dolls to comfort the spirits of his lost daughter and family.

Easter Island
Easter Island – Chile, an island in the South Pacific Ocean belonging to Chile, is especially famous for its 400-year-old mysterious statues. These statues, called Moai, are arranged along the coastline and symbolize the actions of the central government of the island.

Hashima Island, Japan
Hashima Island – Japan, a terrifying Japanese island that was once the most densely populated place in the world. However, due to Japan's shift from coal to oil and gas energy consumption, this island was abandoned and has since become shrouded in mystery.

Alcatraz Island
Alcatraz Island – USA, located in the center of San Francisco Bay in California, Alcatraz was once known as a military zone and later as the world’s safest prison. Today, under the supervision of the U.S. National Park Service, it has been turned into a historical site and is open to the public as a tourist attraction.

Madagascar
Madagascar, this island, like Australia, due to its isolation, has evolved unique animal and plant life, making it a mysterious region full of strange creatures and plants for many tourists.

Socotra Island
Socotra Island – Yemen, an archipelago located in the western Indian Ocean between Asia and Africa, at the entrance to the Gulf of Aden. This island, part of Yemen, is home to unique plant and animal life, including the dragon’s blood tree, which is found only on this island.
