Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, recently announced that fans should expect the third and final season in the summer or fall of 2025. Hwang Dong-hyuk stated that Netflix's journey with Squid Game isn't over yet: "Netflix has more plans for Squid Game. They don't want to give up on this series. I might be involved as a consultant in one of the upcoming projects, but the third season doesn't mark the end of the series."
Currently, Netflix has renewed the reality TV show Squid Game: The Challenge for a second season and has tasked David Fincher with producing an English-language adaptation of the series. Hwang Dong-hyuk recently shared insights about the third season: "The release date for the final season will be announced soon. I expect the show to return with the final season in the fall or summer of 2025. As for the next season's storyline, I can say that Gi-hun will face a very critical crossroads at the start of the third season, but he won't be the same man we saw in the second season."
Although Squid Game will conclude with its third season, Hwang Dong-hyuk emphasized that Netflix's involvement with this popular series isn't over: "I know Netflix has more plans for Squid Game. They don't intend to let go of this series. I might be involved as a consultant in one of the upcoming projects, but the third season of Squid Game doesn't mark the end of the series."
