US President Donald Trump told Axios, as cited by the Times of Israel, that negotiations on Washington’s plan to end the war in Gaza are “at their final stages.” He expressed optimism that an agreement could be announced within the next two days, following his scheduled meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House tomorrow.
“Everybody has come together to get a deal, but we still have to get it done,” Trump said in a phone interview with Axios reporter Barak Ravid. He praised Arab countries for their cooperation, noting that Hamas was engaging in the process with “great respect for the Arab world.”
According to Trump, “The Arab world wants peace, Israel wants peace, and Bibi wants peace,” referring to Netanyahu by his nickname.
Trump emphasized that his initiative is not only aimed at halting the Gaza war but also at creating an opening for broader regional peace. “If we get this done, it will be a great day for Israel and for the Middle East. It will be the first chance for real peace in the region. But we have to get it done first.”
On Israel’s Channel 12, Ravid noted that Trump hopes to finalize and possibly announce the agreement during Monday’s White House meeting.
Meanwhile, the ongoing US-Israeli war on Gaza has resulted in over 66,000 Palestinian deaths and continues to draw international condemnation.
