SAEDNEWS: During the Iran-Iraq War, Hafez al-Assad consistently supported Iran due to deep-seated disagreements with Saddam Hussein. His family included his brothers Rifaat al-Assad and Jamil al-Assad, his sons Bassel, Bashar, and Maher al-Assad, and his daughter Bushra al-Assad.
According to Saed News’ history service, Hafez al-Assad was a Syrian politician and military leader who served as the country’s eighteenth president from 1971 to 2000. He also held the positions of commander-in-chief of the Syrian armed forces and secretary-general of the Syrian Ba’ath Party.
