SAEDNEWS: Iran summoned Britain’s ambassador in Tehran on Sunday after anti-Iranian elements violated the embassy of the Islamic Republic in London and desecrated the national flag.
According to SAEDNEWS, Alireza Yousefi, the director-general of the Foreign Ministry’s Western Europe Department, protested the incident and voiced Iran’s objection to Ambassador Hugo Schwartz.
Yousefi expressed deep concern over the British police’s apparent failure to adequately secure the Iranian embassy, demanding stricter action against the perpetrators.
He emphasized the UK’s responsibility to safeguard the safety and security of Iran’s diplomatic presence in London, including its staff and embassies.
Yousefi further voiced strong condemnation of the continued presence and activities of the groups that “engage in terrorism and disinformation campaigns” and “incite violence” against the Iran.
He reiterated that the UK government must adhere its commitment to combat terrorism, including its legal obligations to prevent organization and financing, and to avoid any support for such activities.
The Iranian diplomat also protested the UK foreign secretary’s recent interventionist remarks regarding Iran.
Yousefi also urged London to proactively make efforts to stop the activities of the media outlets promoting and sponsoring terrorism.
The British ambassador expressed deep regret over the incident involving the damage inflicted upon the Iranian embassy in London and pledged to promptly convey the matter to London.
