SAEDNEWS: One of the Individuals Who Strongly Caught Trump’s Attention Was Miriam Adelson, a Major Financial Supporter of Israel. Trump Noted That She “Has $60 Billion in Her Account” and “Loves Israel.
According to the Politics Desk at SaedNews, U.S. President Donald Trump, while addressing the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, to celebrate the Gaza ceasefire, praised diplomats, generals, and regional countries.
One of the figures who received particular attention from Trump was Miriam Adelson, a major financial supporter of Israel. Trump noted that she “has $60 billion in her account” and “loves Israel.” He added: “I once asked her, ‘Well, Miriam, I know you love Israel. Which do you love more, the United States or Israel?’” She declined to answer, prompting Trump to joke, “That could be a problem, I have to say,” eliciting a faint chuckle from the audience.
Adelson, a Las Vegas casino magnate, contributed $106 million to “Protect America,” a pro-Trump political group. On Monday, she attended the Knesset session and received a standing ovation from Trump as he praised her unwavering support for Israel, noting that she “visited the White House more than anyone else.”
Born in Tel Aviv in 1945 after her parents emigrated from Poland to Israel, Adelson trained as a physician specializing in addiction treatment.
However, in 1991, she married Sheldon Adelson, the casino billionaire who turned Las Vegas Sands into a global gambling empire with resorts across Asia and the U.S. Initially, Miriam held a small share in the casino company, but after Sheldon’s death in 2021, she assumed majority control of Las Vegas Sands, which operates major casinos in Singapore and Macau.
Sheldon Adelson was one of the largest Republican donors, contributing millions to pro-Israel candidates. In 2022, the family sold their Las Vegas Strip properties, including the Venetian resort, for $6.25 billion, further funding Republican initiatives. Following Sheldon’s death, Miriam continued his legacy, strongly supporting Republicans and pro-Israel lobbying efforts.
Al Jazeera Net reports that Trump frequently describes how the Adelson family regularly visited the White House during his first term, urging greater support for Israel. On Monday, he reiterated: “Miriam and Sheldon came to the Oval Office. They contacted me constantly. I think they visited the White House more than anyone else.”
The Adelsons have long wielded significant influence among U.S. conservatives. Through ties with key right-wing figures, they became the largest Republican supporters in the 2010s, spending over $600 million to back Trump’s presidential campaigns in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
Miriam Adelson’s stance became even harder following the October 7 attacks. She penned an op-ed in Israel Hayom, one of Israel’s most widely read newspapers she owns, calling for the marginalization of Israel critics worldwide. She wrote: “Foreign supporters of Hamas are our enemies; ideological backers in the West who do everything to expel us from the Middle East — they must die.”
Her strong support for Trump and the Republican Party secured her close connections to the White House. In 2016, she pressured Trump to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and recognize Israeli control over the occupied Golan Heights. In 2018, Trump awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
At a September campaign event, Adelson told Jewish voters they have a “sacred duty” to support Trump, citing gratitude for his past actions and confidence in his future initiatives. She also backed the harsh crackdown on pro-Palestinian student protesters last year, labeling demonstrations as “horrific gatherings of radical Muslims” and referring to Palestinian supporters, anti-Trump activists, and Black Lives Matter advocates as “vagrants” and “street rioters.”
