Iran Condemns Israeli Attack on Gaza Journalists, Honors Diplomatic Martyrs, and Updates on European Negotiations and Diplomatic Posts

Ismail Baqaei opened today’s (Monday) press conference by commemorating the diplomatic martyrs who were killed during the attack on the Iranian consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif.

According to Saed News citing ISNA, Baqaei strongly condemned the recent Israeli attack on journalists in Gaza, describing it as a war crime. At the beginning of the press conference, he read parts of the will of the late journalist Anas Al-Sharif from Al Jazeera Qatar, who was killed by Israeli forces.

Baqaei continued: “In the past 24 hours, dozens of Palestinians have been killed, and it is regrettable that the international community witnesses and hears these tragedies yet remains inactive, thereby encouraging the Israeli regime to continue these crimes.”

Responding to a question about whether negotiations between Iran and the three European countries have stopped, he said: “We cannot say that negotiations have stopped.”

He added: “At the Istanbul meeting held about two weeks ago, the parties agreed to continue the talks, but the timing and location have not yet been decided, which does not mean the negotiations have stopped.”

Baqaei also announced the names of Iran’s new ambassadors and chargés d’affaires to several countries: Isa Kameli as Ambassador to Poland; Mohammad Hassan Sheikhol-Eslami as Ambassador to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah; Mohammad Baqer Abolfath as Ambassador to Namibia; Mohammad Sadegh Fazli as Ambassador to Serbia; Amir Hossein Hosseini as Ambassador to Zimbabwe; Heydarian as Consul General in Astrakhan; Saeed Hariri as Ambassador to Guangzhou; Amir Hossein Gharibnejad as Ambassador to Croatia; and Ziaei as Chargé d’Affaires in Chile.
