SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Ministry states nuclear talks will continue under established legal frameworks and Supreme National Security Council supervision, while regional diplomacy with Iraq and Lebanon intensifies to promote peace and security.
According to Saed News citing IRNA, in response to a question about whether the nuclear dossier would return to the Supreme National Security Council following Ali Larijani’s presence there, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said:
Regarding negotiations related to the nuclear issue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs acts based on decisions made by the competent authorities of the system within a completely clear and legal hierarchy, and it appropriately communicates its viewpoints to the decision-making bodies.
The nuclear issue has always been coordinated and, in a way, supervised by the Supreme National Security Council; that is, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the responsible entity for negotiations, advances the process based on decisions made by the system’s authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the custodian of the negotiations.
The spokesperson continued, emphasizing that the process will continue in the same manner. He expressed hope that with Dr. Larijani’s presence in the Supreme National Security Council, the country’s diplomatic matters will be actively advanced as before.
Regarding the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council’s trip to Iraq and Lebanon, he stated:
Given the sensitive conditions, it is necessary for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s consultations with regional countries to increase with the clear objective of safeguarding peace, stability, and security in West Asia. The goal in both Iraq and Lebanon is to engage with relevant officials to exchange views on the latest regional developments and assist in maintaining and strengthening peace and stability in the region.
