SAEDNEWS: Iran has welcomed peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan but warned against plans like the Zangezur Corridor that could invite foreign powers into the South Caucasus. Presidential advisor Mehdi Sanaei stressed Tehran’s sensitivity to any move that might escalate tensions in the region.

The political advisor to the President has responded to the Armenia-Azerbaijan agreement and the launch of the Zangezur Corridor—also referred to as the “Trump Route”—emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran warns against any groundwork that could intensify tensions through this initiative.
Mehdi Sanaei, the President’s political advisor, wrote on his account on the social network X:
“Iran welcomes peace among its neighbors and has no objection to lifting blockades on transportation routes. However, it remains sensitive to proposals that would bring extra-regional powers and organizations into the security and geopolitical framework of the historic Caucasus region, and it warns against creating conditions that could lead to heightened tensions through such measures.”
