According to the Culture and Arts service of Saednews, Anne Shirley is a fictional character first introduced in the 1908 novel Anne of Green Gables written by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
In this book, 11-year-old Anne Shirley arrives at Green Gables. Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, a farming brother and sister, are the owners of Green Gables. They decide to adopt a 10-11-year-old boy, but the official responsible for bringing the orphan mistakenly brings a girl named "Anne Shirley" (who lost her parents when she was three months old) to Green Gables instead. Anne stays there, and instead of helping Matthew with farming, she helps Marilla with housework, creating many fascinating adventures. She forms a close friendship with "Diana Barry," and various events cause the two friends to separate, but they always try to stay committed to their friendship with each other's help.
Lucy Maud Montgomery, commonly known as L.M. Montgomery, was a famous and imaginative Canadian writer, primarily known for writing poems and short stories for young readers.
Montgomery was born on November 30, 1874, in Clifton (now known as New London) on Prince Edward Island. She lost her mother to tuberculosis when she was 21 months old, and her father, consumed by grief over the death of his wife, entrusted her care to her maternal grandparents. At the age of seven, Lucy went to live with her grandparents in Cavendish, where they were strict with her. Despite having relatives in the area, she spent much of her childhood in solitude, which helped nurture her creativity, imagination, and the creation of her own imaginary friends and worlds.
