SAEDNEWS: Israeli occupation troops killed at least 38 Palestinians seeking food in southern Gaza on Saturday, part of a broader campaign that has left over 58,000 dead since October.

Israeli troops opened fire on starving civilians gathered near food distribution sites in Rafah, killing 38 people in a single day, according to Gaza health officials.

The attacks targeted locations linked to the so-called GHF network, long accused of facilitating Israel’s blockade-driven control over aid flows in the besieged enclave with US support.

"Many were just trying to get a bag of flour or canned food," said Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary, reporting from Deir al Balah. "Instead, they were gunned down."

The Gaza Health Ministry reported on Saturday that the total death toll from Israel’s relentless assault has now reached 58,765, with another 140,485 people injured.

A statement from the ministry said 98 bodies were brought to hospitals in the past 48 hours alone, with 511 injured in the same period.

Rescue efforts remain paralyzed as airstrikes continue to hit densely populated areas, leaving scores buried under rubble or lying uncollected in streets.

Since May 27, more than 5,754 others have been wounded while seeking food or water.

Despite growing international outrage, Israeli war resumed in Gaza on March 18, effectively collapsing a January ceasefire and prisoner swap deal.

New negotiations are underway in Doha, with mediators attempting to broker another temporary halt to the Israeli bombardment. Meanwhile, Israeli settlers have taken to the streets, demanding a truce deal that would bring home remaining captives.

The Health Ministry and Palestinian resistance factions continue to warn that unless there is an immediate end to the siege, the humanitarian crisis will spiral further into catastrophe.
