During the 94th cabinet meeting on Sunday evening, Pezeshkian highlighted the significance of preserving the environment as one of the most serious and vital issues facing the country.

He called for creating a balance between resources and consumption based on a scientific plan, stating that serious and comprehensive measures are needed to avoid similar crises, especially regarding water shortages.

The president also emphasized that all efforts must be made to ensure that the land is not destroyed and eroded for future generations and that a green and sustainable heritage should be passed on to them.

In this session, Head of the Department of Environment Shina Ansari presented a specific report on dust storms in Khuzestan and other provinces in the south, southeast, and southwest of Iran.

Governor General of Khuzestan Province Mohammad-Reza Mavalizadeh recently wrote a letter to the cabinet warning about environmental issues in the province, the expansion of the dust phenomenon, the fire in the Hur al-Azim wetland, and the necessity to halt inter-basin water transfer projects.
