SAEDNEWS: Intelligence suggests that the Israeli regime smuggled a number of micro air vehicles (MAVs) into Iran via neighboring countries in the months leading up to its recent war of aggression on the country, a diplomat says.
Saednews:“We have obtained information that several miniature unmanned aerial vehicles were smuggled into Iran via neighboring countries,” Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, told a news conference in Yerevan on Friday.
That explains, Sobhani added, why Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, during a call on June 26 to “conduct a thorough investigation” into reports that micro-drones have entered Iran via Azerbaijani territory.
“We are waiting to see what the results of the investigation will be. After the results of the probe are out, we will decide how to respond accordingly,” he pointed out.
Azerbaijani authorities have, however, given assurances that their country’s territory will not be used against Iran, the Iranian diplomat stated.
Sobhani stated that the Tel Aviv regime does not abide by any regulations, and there is a possibility that the regime might have exploited the territory of Iran’s neighboring countries.
During the telephone conversation with Pezeshkian, Aliyev expressed regret over Israeli attacks on Iranian non-military installations, which resulted in civilian casualties.
He welcomed the ceasefire and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s respect for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Rejecting the reports suggesting that Azerbaijani airspace had been used by Israeli drones to attack Iran, Aliyev stressed that his government maintains full control over its airspace and would never allow it to be used against Iran.
He emphasized Azerbaijan’s desire to expand ties with Iran across economic, political, and security sectors, and proposed sending an Iranian delegation to Baku for upcoming trilateral talks on the North-South Corridor project.
Israel launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on June 13, assassinating senior military commanders and top nuclear scientists in targeted strikes before attacking nuclear and military sites and residential areas.
The Iranian Armed Forces responded with 22 waves of missile strikes as part of Operation True Promise III, which targeted many strategic sites across the Israeli-occupied territories.
