SAEDNEWS: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says that Iran is committed to peace, but it will never bow to any humiliation or aggression.
According to Saednews, Speaking at the funeral ceremony of the Iranian civilians killed in recent Israeli military strikes, held on Saturday, which is also the second day of Muharram.
The mourning days of the martyrdom of the third Shia Imam Hossein (AS) are held in the first ten days of the month of Muharram with a special mood throughout Iran. Baqaei highlighted the symbolic meaning of the day and the nation’s belief in the Ashura tradition.
He said the Iranian people, inspired by the values of dignity and sacrifice, have always stood firm in the face of threats.
Baqaei added that the magnificent turnout in the funeral processions demonstrates national pride and solidarity.
Despite being a peace-loving nation throughout history, Iran has never submitted to humiliation, he noted.
Funeral procession of Iranians who lost their lives during Israeli strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran has started in the capital city, Tehran, with President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliamant Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, and several other high-ranking officials in attendance.
The ceremony began at 8:00 a.m. local time at Enghelab Square, where hundreds of thousands of people gathered to mourn for those who were killed during the 12-day war imposed by the Israeli regime on Iran.
