SAEDNEWS:Iraqi political figure Ammar al-Hakim has issued a stark warning following U.S. airstrikes on Iran, declaring that continued aggression risks dragging the region—and potentially the world—into a wider, uncontrollable war. He condemned the attacks as a grave violation of international law and urged immediate global intervention.
According to Saed News, Ammar al-Hakim, head of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement, strongly condemned the recent U.S. military strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. In a statement following the bombardment of sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, al-Hakim warned that the escalation threatens to destabilise not only the region but the entire international order.
“This aggression marks a flagrant violation of international norms and conventions,” al-Hakim stated. “If left unchecked, it could ignite a broader war with consequences far beyond the Middle East.”
He called on international institutions—including the United Nations, the Security Council, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation—to break their silence and act urgently. Al-Hakim urged these bodies to adopt binding measures to restrain what he described as escalating violations by Israel and its allies, and to prevent the conflict from spiralling into an all-out regional war.
In his closing remarks, al-Hakim prayed for the protection of the Iranian people and for peace across Arab and Islamic nations. His remarks reflect growing unease across the region, where even traditionally neutral actors are alarmed by the pace of escalation.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation released a statement early Sunday, reaffirming that the country’s nuclear development programme will continue unabated. The organisation decried the attacks as “barbaric” and in direct contravention of international law—particularly the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)—under which the targeted sites are monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Iranian officials further accused the IAEA of complicity through its silence, highlighting the unprecedented nature of a U.S. president publicly assuming responsibility for an attack on facilities under IAEA oversight.
“The world must reject lawlessness and jungle logic,” the statement read. “The Iranian people will not be deterred. Our programme is not merely a scientific endeavour—it is a national legacy built with the blood of our nuclear martyrs.”
The organisation vowed to pursue legal action and pressed the international community to uphold Iran’s sovereign rights. With tensions between Iran, Israel, and the U.S. at their highest in years, observers fear that diplomacy is quickly being replaced by a calculus of military escalation with global repercussions.
