SAEDNEWS: A prominent Iranian lawmaker has denounced Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's recent trip to Europe as a “strategic misstep,” asserting that negotiations in the current climate only embolden adversaries. He also called for tougher action on illegal immigration and warned of mounting economic and security risks.
According to Saed News, a leading member of Iran’s parliament has harshly criticized Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Europe, calling it a “strategic error” given the heightened regional tensions following recent attacks on Iranian soil. The lawmaker, representing the districts of Fariman and Sarakhs, argued that no diplomatic dialogue with European states is warranted under current conditions.
“The move by Mr. Araghchi was a miscalculation,” he stated. “Engaging in negotiations now, especially after Zionist aggression and American complicity, is not only unproductive but potentially harmful. Unity and resistance are what the situation demands—not compromise.”
The MP emphasized that while internal political differences may exist, such divisions must be set aside in the face of external threats. “History shows that Iranians never surrender to foreign aggressors. Our unity has always been our greatest strength.”
Addressing the broader geopolitical implications, he blamed Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for provoking regional instability and misjudging the Iranian public’s resilience. “Their missteps come from either flawed intelligence or deep misunderstanding of Iran’s national spirit,” he said.
On internal defense, he expressed confidence in the country’s armed forces—thanking the IRGC, Army, and law enforcement agencies—and praised their performance in the wake of recent hostilities. “Our people stand behind our military. We will emerge stronger from this test,” he added.
The MP also warned of the war's economic toll, citing inflation and the growing cost-of-living crisis. “This war is not just military—it’s economic too,” he said, stressing that the government must act decisively. “Regulatory bodies like the Consumer Protection Organization need to enforce stricter oversight. Parliament will prioritize this issue in upcoming sessions.”
In response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s online claim of a successful strike on Iran’s nuclear sites, the MP said such statements proved that diplomacy was not only futile but misleading. “Any form of negotiation in this climate is a distraction. Trump’s reaction shows there is no genuine intent for peace.”
He warned Iranian officials against engaging with the West without a thorough strategic assessment, stating: “Uncalculated actions could carry high costs for the country.”
Turning to domestic concerns, the lawmaker emphasized the urgent need for stricter immigration control. “Illegal entry into Iran, particularly through smuggling routes, has created major national security issues,” he said. “The Ministry of Interior must step up with force and implement clear, transparent actions.”
He called the government’s efforts in recent years insufficient and urged the Ministry to go beyond issuing guidelines and take measurable steps. “The people deserve clarity and results.”
On the role of parliament, he affirmed that lawmakers are ready to fill any legal voids to support more decisive enforcement. “We must escalate deportations of undocumented migrants and ensure public safety. Half-measures are no longer acceptable.”
As tensions mount both inside and outside Iran’s borders, the MP’s statements reflect a hardening political stance that prioritizes resistance, internal cohesion, and strict border control—while rejecting diplomacy with the West as premature and potentially damaging.
