According to the Political Service of Saed News, In the wake of the terrorist attack by the Zionist regime on Iran in the early hours of June 13, 2025, a group of the country's nuclear scientists were martyred.

According to official sources, Abdolhamid Minoochehr, Ahmadreza Zolfaghari, Seyyed Amirhossein Feqhi, Matlabizadeh, Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi, and Fereydoon Abbasi were assassinated and martyred in this morning's attacks by the Zionist regime.

Here is an overview of their scientific backgrounds:

Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi

Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi, born in 1965, was a distinguished professor at the Physics Faculty of Shahid Beheshti University, a full professor (Grade 41), and the President of Islamic Azad University. His scientific expertise spanned condensed matter physics, quantum computation, nanophysics and nanotechnology, high-temperature superconductivity, computational simulations in materials, electronic and magnetic properties of materials, and computational physics.

His academic background included:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Physics, Shahid Beheshti University (1988)

  • Master's Degree: Solid State Physics, Shahid Beheshti University (1991)

  • Ph.D.: Solid State Physics, Shahid Beheshti University (1997)

  • Postdoctoral Fellowship: Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy (1996-1997)

According to reputable scientific databases, Tehranchi had over 150 articles in prestigious international journals (ISI), more than 3000 citations to his scientific works, an h-index of 14, 12 authored and translated books, and 8 patents in the field of new technologies, along with supervising dozens of master's theses and doctoral dissertations.

He was a member of the Physics Society of Iran, a founding member of the Iranian Nanotechnology Association, a member of the Iranian Scientific Society of Optics and Photonics, and a reviewer for prestigious international physics journals.

In August 2018, Tehranchi was appointed as the acting head of Islamic Azad University by Mohammad Farhadi, the Minister of Science. Subsequently, in November 2018, he was appointed as the President of the university by a decree from the Supreme Leader, and since then, he implemented major initiatives and programs at the university.

Prior to this, Tehranchi served as the President of Shahid Beheshti University from 2012 to 2016 and subsequently as the Vice President for Research and Technology at the same university.

His other responsibilities included serving as President of the University Publishing Center (2016-2017), President of Islamic Azad University of Tehran Province (2017-2018), Deputy Head of Islamic Azad University for Science, Engineering, and Agriculture Affairs (2017-2018), Head of the Presidential Center for Scientific and Technological Cooperation, Head of the National Scientific, Research, and Technology Basij Organization (2012-2013), member of the Supreme Council for Science, Research, and Technology (ATF), and a member of the Board of Trustees of various universities.

Tehranchi was recognized as a National Exemplary Professor in 2010, a Top Researcher at Shahid Beheshti University (multiple times), a winner of the Allameh Tabataba'i Award for Best University Book, and a recipient of the First-Class Scientific Medal from the President.

Fereydoon Abbasi Davani

Fereydoon Abbasi Davani, born in 1958, held a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from Shahid Beheshti University. He was the head of the Physics Group at Imam Hossein University and a member of the Central Council of the Iranian Nuclear Society. Since 1993, he had been a faculty member of the Physics Department at Imam Hossein University (AS) and was selected as a National Exemplary Professor in 2007.

Abbasi is one of Iran's nuclear scientists who was targeted in an assassination attempt by agents of the Zionist regime on November 29, 2010, simultaneously with the assassination of Majid Shahriari and other Iranian nuclear physicists and engineers, which resulted in his injury.

In February 2011, he was appointed as the Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization, a position he held until August 2013.

Abdolhamid Minoochehr

Abdolhamid Minoochehr was a faculty member at Shahid Beheshti University and the Editor-in-Chief of the Quarterly Journal of Nuclear Technology and Energy. Since 2022, he had served as the Head of the Nuclear Engineering Faculty at Shahid Beheshti University.

His scientific work focused on fuel cladding, non-destructive testing, and eddy currents. He was also the Editor-in-Chief of the Quarterly Journal of Nuclear Technology and Energy and had published numerous articles in the nuclear field.

These articles by Dr. Minoochehr have been published in scientific journals and presented at scientific conferences.

Ahmadreza Zolfaghari

Ahmadreza Zolfaghari was a faculty member at Shahid Beheshti University and the Managing Editor of the Quarterly Journal of Nuclear Technology and Energy. The Shahid Beheshti University website also listed him as the Vice President for Support, Finance, and Resource Management of the university.

Zolfaghari was a colleague of Dr. Minoochehr and co-authored articles such as: "Optimization of Desalination Plant Connection to Kerman Combined Cycle Power Plant by Combining Artificial Neural Network and Gravitational Search Algorithm," "Gamma Ray Protection Using Heavy Concrete Containing Lead Slag," "Numerical Analysis of Thermomechanical Behavior of UO2 Fuel Rod in Steady State Using Finite Element Method," "Solving Neutron Diffusion Equation Using Meshless Method Based on Wendland Radial Functions in Two-Dimensional Cartesian Coordinates," "Determination of Unknown Atmospheric Dispersion Source Parameters Using AERMOD Software and Bayesian Inference with Markov Chain Monte Carlo," and "Design and Construction of an Electron Impact Ion Source Controller System for Mass Spectrometry." These articles by Zolfaghari have been presented at conferences and published in scientific journals.

Seyyed Amirhossein Feqhi

Dr. Seyyed Amirhossein Feqhi, born in 1978, held a Bachelor's Degree in Physics (Nuclear Orientation) from Urmia University, a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering (Energy Orientation), and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering (Energy Orientation) from Amirkabir University of Technology.

He began his career in 2008 as a faculty member of the Nuclear Engineering Faculty at Shahid Beheshti University, reaching the rank of professor in 2016. He served in various capacities including Director of Faculty Affairs, Secretary of the Executive Board for Faculty Recruitment, and Secretary of the University's Evaluation Board.

From 2002 to 2004, he was a member of the Accident Analysis Team for the FMP project at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. His academic and university record includes leading postdoctoral researchers, supervising doctoral dissertations, and guiding master's theses. Feqhi also had 158 scientific articles published in prestigious international journals, 38 scientific articles presented at prestigious international conferences, 98 scientific articles published in reputable national journals and conferences, 7 authored and translated national and international books, and 5 reputable scientific innovations in his professional background.

He was a member of the Evaluation Board of the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (representing the Ministry of Science), a member of the Editorial Board of the Quarterly Journal of Nuclear Technology and Energy at Shahid Beheshti University, the Director of the Department of Radiation Applications at Shahid Beheshti University, and the Plenipotentiary Representative of Shahid Beheshti University in the Permanent Committee on Space Radiation of the Iranian Space Organization.

Among Feqhi's scientific achievements are: National Exemplary Professor (2019), Selected Researcher of Shahid Beheshti University (2015), Exemplary Lecturer of Shahid Beheshti University (2011), Top Researcher of Shahid Beheshti University (2010), Second Place in Applied Research at the 23rd Khwarizmi International Festival (2009), First Place in Developmental Research at the 15th Khwarizmi Youth Festival (2013), Postdoctoral opportunity at CERN Research Center in Europe (2007), and authoring and translating books in national and international publications on industrial applications of radioisotopes, materials industry, and steel industry.

He also had significant industrial activities, including: effective collaboration in the establishment and operation of the country's first private sector irradiation facility, participation and collaboration in the implementation, establishment, and acquisition of ISO9001:2015 and ISO13485:2016 international certifications based on ISO11137 for the Shahrekord irradiation system, design and construction of two-phase gas-liquid flowmeters, design and construction of a two-phase test loop for the purpose of manufacturing and calibrating two-phase gas-liquid flowmeters, design, construction, and calibration of a coating thickness gauge probe based on the backscatter beta method, design and construction of a density measurement device using gamma rays for monitoring petroleum products (patent registered), design and construction of a laboratory prototype for distillation column fault detection through gamma ray scanning (patent registered), production of technical knowledge for flame-retardant polymers through the combined use of additives and irradiation to reduce fire probability (patent registered), design and construction of a laboratory prototype for cement analysis device, production of technical knowledge for self-healing steels against radiation damage (steels used in nuclear industries), design and construction of diagnostic tools used in particle accelerators, design of an industrial neutron radiography system for Arak reactor, design and programming of fuel consumption calculation software for power reactors, and design and construction of a laboratory prototype of a radioisotope battery with a self-oscillating pole.
