According to the Saed News analytical-news website, quoting Rokna, the eyes of the world, beauty lovers, and pageant enthusiasts turned on the evening of Saturday, January 14 (24th of Dey), to New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, where the 71st Miss Universe competition was held with the participation of 86 beauty queens from around the globe—including two contestants from Arab countries. Many were curious about the identities of these two beautiful Arab women participating in the prestigious event.
At this ceremony, the winner of the Miss World 2022 competition—which had been delayed—was finally selected. Sixteen finalists were chosen from among the 86 participants, followed by the selection of the top five, and then the final top three. The event concluded with the crowning of Miss Universe 2022.
The preliminary stage of the competition took place in New Orleans and included various segments featuring different outfits, serving as a prelude to the final ceremony held on Saturday night. The two Arab contestants were Yasmina Zaytoun from Lebanon and Evlin Khalifa from Bahrain.
Evlin Khalifa was born in 1998 to a Bahraini father and a Russian mother. She studied financial management and banking, has trained in taekwondo and dance, and has modeled for Dior cosmetic products. In September 2022, she won the title of Miss Bahrain.
Yasmina Zaytoun hails from the town of Kfar Shuba in southern Lebanon. She won the title of Miss Lebanon 2022, a crown that had remained with Maya Reaidy for four years due to the cancellation of the national pageant amid political protests in October 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ongoing financial crisis in the country.
The newly crowned Miss Lebanon, who studies journalism, stands 167 cm tall, weighs 51 kg, and received a $100,000 cash prize. She represented Lebanon in both the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants.
