SAEDNEWS: Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said that if the snapback mechanism is activated next week, Iran’s recent agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Cairo will be suspended.

Iran Warns: Snapback Sanctions Threaten to Collapse Iran-IAEA Nuclear Dea

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Minister for Legal and International Affairs, slammed Europe’s push to reinstate UN sanctions under the JCPOA “snapback” mechanism, calling it illegal and unjustified. He emphasized that Britain, France, and Germany never honored their commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal, and now misuse it to target Iran.

Gharibabadi stressed that Iran has acted responsibly, pursuing diplomacy with dignity, including recent Cairo talks with the IAEA. He warned that if the UN sanctions are reimposed by September 27, 2025, the Iran-IAEA Cairo agreement will be suspended, halting progress in nuclear cooperation.

While acknowledging the sanctions’ seriousness, Gharibabadi described them as mostly psychological, noting they cannot match the unilateral sanctions Iran has endured historically. He urged economic experts to clarify the real impact to the public and avoid falling into Western psychological warfare.

Iran is closely studying its next moves, pledging proportionate responses to any hostile actions, and calling on the international community to reject Europe’s unilateral step.
