SAEDNEWS: The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed that Israeli drones launched a deliberate assault on its personnel, dropping four grenades near peacekeepers engaged in clearing roadblocks southeast of Marwahin.

In a statement released Wednesday, UNIFIL described the act as “one of the most serious attacks on UNIFIL personnel and assets since the cessation of hostilities agreement of last November.” According to the mission, one grenade exploded within 20 meters of UN forces, while three others landed within roughly 100 meters of their vehicles and staff.

Despite a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah in November 2024, the Israeli regime has continued near-daily strikes on Lebanese territory, heightening tensions and defying international agreements.

UNIFIL emphasized that the Israeli army had been notified in advance of the road clearance operation, making the attack a clear and calculated provocation. “Any actions endangering UN peacekeepers and assets, and interference with their mandated tasks are unacceptable and a serious violation of Resolution 1701 and international law,” the mission said, referring to the resolution that ended Israel’s 2006 war on Lebanon.

This latest aggression underscores Tel Aviv’s disregard for international law and its persistent destabilizing role in the region, as peacekeepers working under UN mandate now find themselves directly targeted by Israeli military operations.
